Information on entry deadlines – Qual Meet 1

The entry deadline for Qual Meet 1 is the 20th September. As the week after (Monday 27th ) is a public holiday and considering the various other opportunities there are to qualify for states throughout the season, this date will not be extended for swimmers wanting to use a time achieved at the NT event. For swimmers who achieve a time at the NT event there are at least five opportunities to qualify for State Age during the season for 50m and 100m events and at least three opportunities for 200m + events. |

Swimming WA encourages all Club Officials to volunteer at long course meets during 2010/11 season. Development opportunities are available to officials at all levels of Swimming WA meets. It is a great way to build your experience and meet new people in the swimming community. Nederpelt and Rowe take out 41st Annual Waikiki Roughwater Swim

West Australian Travis Nederpelt (Perth) caused a major upset at the 41st Annual Waikiki Roughwater Swim in Hawaii today, finishing ahead of North Carolina's Chip Peterson, who won the Pan Pacific Championship 10K swim two weeks ago. Third place was Alex Meyer (MA) and fourth was Codie Grimsey (QLD, Australia), who is the younger brother of defending Waikiki Roughwater Champion Trent Grimsey. Trent did not compete this year due to illness.

We are seeking four (4) junior swimmers to be the medal carriers for this weekend’s Short Course Open Championships. We would require two on each day between 9am and 1pm. 2010 Hancock Family Medical Foundation Junior Short Course Championships - Wrap Up

The 2010 Hancock Family Medical Foundation Junior Short Course Championships were held at Challenge Stadium from the 21st and 22nd August.
294 athletes aged from 8 to 12 took part in the 2 day event with 74% of these young swimmers achieving improved times and breaking a total of 19 state records.

Venues West have advised that Challenge Stadium and the surrounding UWA sports grounds will be exceptionally busy this weekend. All swimmers and spectators for the State Short Course Swimming Championships are encouraged to arrive at Challenge early and to enter the venue through the front entrance, not the back way (via the UWA grounds). Team WA to Assemble in Canberra

September will see a WA team of 31 swimmers, 4 coaches and 2 team managers travelling to the AIS Aquatic Centre, Canberra to compete at the 2010 Australian State Team Age Short Course Championships. The event will be held over a three day weekend from the 18th to 20th September.

The ACGA today announced the final list of swimmers for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi (October 3-14) following last week’s Pan Pacific Championships, with 31 members of 52-strong team set to make their Commonwealth Games debut for Australia.

Aussies set for night 3 finals at Pan Pacs
Tyros Yolane Kukla, Katie Goldman and Leiston Pickett will be among the 14 Australians competing in individual finals on night three of the Pan Pacific Championships in California tonight, with the Telstra Dolphins Australian swim team also expected to do well in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

On the final night of competition at the IPC Swimming World Championships, Eindhoven, the men’s team took out the 4 x 100m medley relay bringing the Australian team’s final gold medal count to 12.
